About the event

The Man Whose Mother Was A Pirate is a compilation of fabulous stories by Margaret Mahy.

Margaret read our play and listened to the music when we first performed it, and gave us her permission to let her stories live in this different way. Follow the adventures of Sam, who escapes from his office job and runs away with his Pirate Mother to find the sea. On the way, he meets haymakers, a philosopher, a travelling circus, a crocodile, a shark – and pirates galore! With a happy, lively company, brilliant songs and a live band – it’s not to be missed.
